Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Allograft Creation

Donor Alliance, AlloSource and JRF Ortho invite you to visit their facilities on a tour led by Rachel M. Frank, MD, University of Colorado School of Medicine. Take a journey to discover the path an allograft takes from tissue donation to manufacturing, making them available for your surgeries. This unique opportunity is only possible in Denver and being offered exclusively to 2024 Annual Meeting attendees.

The tour is free! Registration is limited to the first 40 people and transportation is provided.

On the bus, hear from Dr. Frank regarding her experience using allografts and being an allograft recipient. Lunch and refreshments will also be provided.

Finalists for the Playmaker Grant will present their research strategies at a shark-tank session open to all meeting attendees. This session will provide panelists, finalists, and audience members the opportunity to interact with and discuss the merits of each proposal. All funding decisions will be made by standing members of the AOSSM Research Committee and a winner(s) will be selected on site!

Traveling Fellows Reception

The Traveling Fellowship Reception at the AOSSM Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado, invites attendees to connect and engage with past and present traveling fellows. This program facilitates an exchange of scientific knowledge and fosters relationships among sports medicine physicians from North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin American countries. The four-week fellowship includes visits to sports medicine centers, interaction with regional experts, patient care experiences, observation in operating rooms, scientific collaboration, case sharing, and recreational activities. Led by a senior orthopaedic sports medicine specialist, these tours feature three emerging leaders in the field. AOSSM collaborates with partner organizations such as APKASS, ESSKA, and SLARD to facilitate travel exchanges between regions, alternating between North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America biennially.

Masters Competition

The coveted AOSSM Red Jacket competition returns to this year’s Annual Meeting! This competition celebrates sports medicine luminaries as they present an innovation or technology that has provided high-end and far-reaching impact to their patients. Finalists deliver a short (~5-7 min) presentation detailing their innovation. After which, judges and the audience participate in Q&A. At the close of the session, a winner(s) is chosen, and the Red Jacket is awarded. Nominate your innovative peers or yourself by June 1, 2024!
